A weather station for £60?

Post by John Wilson » Mon Jul 04, 2016 10:33 am

I see from yesterday's Sunday Times and this morning's Times that the Met Office have a super new computer (or should that be new supercomputer?) but are stymied by the lack of data to put into it. Hence, they are encouraging members of the public to 'purchase a £60 data collector to upload readings of temperature, humidity, rainfall and pressure'. From where would one purchase such a weather station, and would it be any good at that price? i.e. how much reliance would the Met Office be able to place on data from such a cheap-o weather station?
I am planning to buy a Davis Vantage Vue station, which seems a much better bet.
Regards to all. Hope to see some of you at Reading in September.
John
