Yet more Snow!

Post by Chris Richards » Thu Mar 08, 2018 11:15 am

On throwing open the curtains this morning, I was astonished to see it snowing hard at 8am here on the Wirral again. 5cm of snow were lying thickly everywhere, including trees and shrubs - very magical!
Air temperature was 0.5 deg C at 8am, with dewpoint -1 deg. The weather radar showed Wirral on the northern side of a small feature drifting eastwards from N Wales. Looks as if the precipitation may have started as rain (10mm in rain gauge when I had melted all the snow on it), but it was locally heavy enough to lower the freezing level close to ground level??
It's now sunny, though, and the snow is thawing rapidly. Current air temp: 4.6 C and dewpoint 4 deg C.
