Re: A wet January

January rainfall (1st - 16th) up to 67 mm here Len, so a bit wetter than my estimated average of 41 mm for the same period. But despite the rain it has been a rather sunny January so far with 66 hours of the lovely, bright warm stuff. That's around 57% of the total possible so definitely in the 'sun...

1st to 16th January 2016 - Sunny and Wet

The weather of the first half of the first month of 2016 has made a welcome change from the persistent southwesterlies that occurred through most of November and December. January so far has been sunny and wetter than normal and with around average temperatures. 1st - 16th: Mean maximum = 10.0°C Mea...

Re: Big change in January

Yes, a definite change in the feel of the weather but also more in the way of sunshine. And it is warm sunshine too with more oooomph as the air is clearer with no haze. The day maximums have still been good though and coupled with lighter wind and sunshine have still made for a rather pleasant, if ...

Re: A mild December

No long term records here for me in Llanfairfechan as regards temperature because this is only my 5th year, but even if there where they wouldn't have stood a chance with this month just gone! Mean Max 13.3C Mean Min 7.6C Mean 10.5C So the difference here to farther south is the occasional/more fre...

Sunshine 2015 - Started promising....

The sunshine levels for 2015 started well enough and I thought we were on-course for a 2000+ hours total as the first 6 months recorded 1047 hours. But things went awry in July and August, recovered in September and October; then went dire in November and December. Still, 2015 did not end up my most...

Re: A mild December

Third month with below-average sunshine; November (41% LTA) & December (52% LTA) were notably sunless - several days at a time with no sunshine observed. We're all looking a bit 'pasty-faced' hereabouts! Yes, very pale and pasty-faced here too! Though sunshine levels improved somewhat over the last...

December 2015 - Windiest Month

This December is the windiest month I have recorded (starting May 2005) with a wind run so far (up to 12:00 on the 30th Dec) of 6342 miles. The previous windiest month was February 2014 with 4844. So, along with temperature, this December completely trounces the previous record. The windiest day als...

Re: Dust Fall

Same here yesterday. A slight dusting on the roof of the car. There had been no rainfall so I suppose I should call it 'dew' dust fall. The air was unusually hazy yesterday with poor visibility, especially towards the horizon out over the sea. Very different today with crystal clear skies and unbrok...

Re: A mild December

In Penzance (1st-26th) Mean Max 13.5C Mean Min 10.7C Mean 12.1C And here (1st - 27th): Mean Maxumum: 13.6°C Mean Minimum: 9.4°C Mean: 11.5°C Rain 64.7 mm Sunshine = 46 hours. Whilst the mean minimum is remarkable in itself for this river valley location, it is even more remarkable when you consider...

Re: A mild December

Have just had 42 straight hours with the air temp above 13.5c. Doesn't feel like the holiday season at all. I've just check and the temperature here has been above 13.5°C for the last 51 hours (up to 14:00 on the 27th). Minimums and maximums so far for today and yesterday: 26th 13.7°C 15.0°C 27th 1...
