Re: Warmest day so far.

A maximum of 20.3°C here yesterday (8th May) with the temperature being pegged back a little by a strong breeze in off the sea. That's the warmest day since the 29th September (20.9°C). Rather unusually, last October had no days above 20°C though many came very close. I suspect today will be warmer ...

Re: April chill

April 2016: Mean maximum = 13.6°C Mean minimum = 3.9°C Mean = 8.8°C Rain = 38.4 mm Sunshine = 186.1 hours. A colder then average month though the mean maximum temperature was actually around or slightly above average. The abundance of cold, clear and starry nights made for a much lower than average ...

28th April 2016 - Very, very late air frost

The temperature went down to -1.9°C last night making it the latest air frost I have recorded but was also one of the colder nights of the winter/spring season! And unusually for April, today's frost duration was nearly 5 hours long. Normally, the infrequent air frosts that do happen in April are mo...

Re: A cold March?

Well in the end this March did end up colder than my estimated LTA but it was the nights that were consistently cold whereas the mean maximum temperatures ended up a little above average. And with two rainless weeks (10th - 23rd) I thought March would end up drier than average but two very wet days ...

Re: Uploading data onto websites

Trevor, I have a PC running 24/7 and it uses a tiny amount of electricity. I recommend a netbook! The one I used was a Asus Eec X101-CH and it would run Windows 7 or 8 with no issues. It used only 5 - 10 watts but the only problem with this model was it had only 1GB RAM. I got round that by insertin...

Re: A cold March?

The mean temperature for the first half of March has indeed been colder than monthly average but then you would expect that as the second half normally warms up. Then again, it has been the consistently cool/cold nights rather than the days that have brought the average temperature down. I suspect (...

Re: Warm spring sunshine

Yes, Sunday (21st) felt like a real spring day with a maximum of 16.8°C. This was the highest February temperature I've recorded since before 2005. It also had the warmest February high minimum I've recorded with 11.8°C. With just a few days to go before the official start to spring, the sun is real...

Re: February possibly another wet month?

A wet month here too Len, in what would normally be the start of the Spring to early Autumn 'drier' period, especially during the 2nd half of February.

A total of 99 mm making it one of the wetter Februaries of the last 10 years. My eLTA is 62 mm for the entire month.

Re: A wet January

This January ended up with 113.6 mm (126% of my eLTA). That is way down on January 2014 (the wettest of any month) with 195 mm. It seems that the Dartmoor rainfall shadow was more pronounced this time, probably due to the rain coming in from a SW to WSW direction (lee of Dartmoor) rather than a sout...

Re: A wet January

Up to the 27th my rainfall total is now 109 mm, so rather above my estimated average of 82 mm for January as a whole. Rainfall for the last 96 hours was 6.0 mm, so we missed pretty much all of the deluges experienced in the rest of the South West. Monthly mean temperature rising as well, now at 6.8°...
