Storm Callum gave southerly gales on Friday and Saturday here.
Gusts were up to 54 knots on Friday afternoon.
The windiest its been for some time.

Is anybody there?

Been blown away?

Reservoir levels

We are now in a state of less water in our SW Water reservoirs than this time last year.. The present break in the drought will arrest the fall temporarily. Interesting to see that the demand for water has decreased in the last 2 decades in the Southwest. Presumably due to metering. This is not what...

Re: Lack of precipitation East Dorset

Compared to your location Martin, our dry spell only started in May. 37.3 mm in May. (Average 61 mm) 8.8 mm to 17th June. (Average 65 mm) The 'winter-half' precipitation [October - March] for Wembury was 130% of LTA. Our South West Water reservoirs are fairly full at around 90% so there is no worry ...

Wet first half of April

Rain total to 16th, 74.2 mm. That's 111% of average. The second half cannot possibly be as wet looking at the medium term forecast. But I would not be surprised to see the 100 mm total being reached by the end of the month. We had 142.9 mm in 2012 followed by a wet June July and August. This can't h...

Re: Winter rain trend

Seems you missed the very wet winter of 2013/14 in N Staffs Paul. Only 300 mm as opposed to 600mm at Hurn! 93/94 seems to be your wettest at 375 mm, 514 mm in Wembury, my second wettest in my record and not far off 543 mm in 2013/14. Clearly Newcastle- under-Lyme is in a rain shadow, and no where ne...

Winter rain trend

My perception is that winters are getting wetter in S. Devon.
I am not sure how true this is but the graph below hints at this.
