Re: The Declining Summer of 2017

Certainly was a beautiful day here too Mick :) Sun came out at 1130 and stayed out till sunset. Max was 20.6°C. Forecast of sun was not very good. Sunny spells were only forecast for later in the afternoon. Trouble is, cloud cover is very difficult to forecast in such weak pressure gradient conditio...

Re: The Declining Summer of 2017

August has been decidedly chilly.
My absolute max to 20th is 20.5°C on 10th.

Average max to 20th is 18.8°C.
This compares with an 2001-2016 average Aug. max of 20.1°C.

There are a couple of warm days coming up, but whether they will compensate for August as a whole is doubtful.

Increasing July rainfall

While there is great variability year to year (STD of 38 mm)
The increasing linear trend in July rain here is significant.

Re: July 2017 - A warm 1st half

Even worse,
the second half mean max turned out to be 19.9°C
compared with first half mean max of 21.3°C.

My rain total for July was 99.2 mm (average 66 mm)

Still plenty of summer to come though.

Re: WOW

I have to say that I found the website very unsatisfactory from the start and stopped using it early on.

Data from sites is of very limited use as it is not quality controlled.
The website really is only for people who want to send in a photo in the hope that a weather presenter will show it on TV.

Re: Finally - rain!

17 mm here in my 5 inch gauge in 24 hrs to 1800 BST.
Very persistent and still raining at 2300 BST.

The low pressure is not going anywhere fast.

Re: Warmest June Day

My max temperature in my Stevenson screen was 29.5°C on 20th.
This was not a new record but equalled my highest June temperature of 29.5°C on 30th June 1995.

Updated Spring rainfall.
Rather average despite a dry April.
