Spring rainfall record

Looking at Wembury's Spring rainfall, there is a very small increasing trend of magnitude 15 mm 1985 to 2016. The standard deviation (expected variation about the average) is 51 mm. As the trend is much less than the standard deviation it is certainly not statistically significant. Wembury Spring ra...

Re: May 2016 - Sunny month and 'year' so far

About 44 miles SW of you, this May certainly has not been particularly sunny here.
At least not according to my solar panels installed in 2012.

Here are my May figures in kWh

2016 237.7
2015 236.9
2014 247.6
2013 260.5
2012 274.9

Re: Early May 2016 - Missing the rains

Rain total 49.7 mm with two days of May left.
Unless we have a few downpours it is not likely to reach the average of 74.3 mm.

Re: Early May 2016 - Missing the rains

My total up to 19th May is only 23.5 mm.

The average 2001-2010 for May is 74.3 mm, so the rain so far is somewhat below average.

Sadly, it has not been especially sunny.

Re: Early May 2016 - Missing the rains

We've missed the rain both days here Greg.
0.1 mm on 10th, 0.4 mm today 11th.
Mind you, there looks to be some heavy rain heading west along the south coast tonight.
I wonder if it will keep its intensity.

Re: April chill

April mean temp. was 9.0°C. 1 deg.C below the 2001-2010 average. Still the 5th coldest since 2001. See above. Rain total was 57 mm. Average is 64 mm. It is noteworthy that colder than average Aprils are usually drier than average. An exception is April 2001 with mean temp. of 8.9°C and rain of 124 mm.

Re: 28th April 2016 - Very, very late air frost

Did not quite make it to my latest air frost on 28th. Only got to 0.5C.

My latest air frost still stands at -1.0C on 26th April 1989.

Record began 1985.
