Re: Dry spell in SE England
Here in SW Devon I have a total of 60.2 mm 1st Sep to 17th Sep. Couple of large falls of 25 and 16 mm in that total. About 74 mm is the average total for September in these parts. I've just totalled up my gauge rainfall for this month (1st - 18th) and it is at 28.6 mm (the TBR unusually had over-eg...

Re: Asperatus?
Yes John, it looks like asperatus or asperatis as some have called it.
It is a bit controversial because there is a perfectly good name for it already:
mammatus undulatus would fit well into the present WMO classification.

August and Summer rain in Wembury
Average rainfall in August 2016, but 40 mm fell in two days at the beginning of the month.
Summer(JJA) rainfall was also near average.
The graph does however hint at increasing rainfall in the timespan 2001 to 2016.

Re: July 2016 - Warm, muggy and dry so far
This is true Nick. This is typical of the temperature profile when I do that journey during the late Spring through to early Autumn. Devon seems to have many 'climates' but the warmth (and sunshine) of the coastal hinterland between Exmouth and Seaton is very noticeable. You are just that little bit...

Warm Nick?
Certainly not here a bit west of you on SW Devon coast.
So far for July to 13th:
Mean max 18.9°C (30 yr July average 19.9°C)
Mean min 12.7°C (30 yr July average 13.3°C)
Dryish though with only 15.4 mm so far.

Could not find a programme of that title Richard when I did a search on More 4 catch up.
